Courses
- Independent study courses begin every Monday between the third week in August and the second week in March.
- Courses are nine weeks long. Students may work as fast as they want, but not as slow as they want; they must meet strict assignment deadlines.
- Most of the courses have multimedia features, but still require extensive reading.
- Students are not physically supervised by teachers; therefore, students must be self-motivated to work on courses.
- Students may access their teachers via email or by phone during the teachers' office hours.
- In order to earn course credit, students must have an overall daily score of 61% or higher, and pass the procotored final exam with 61% or higher.
Proctoring
- All final exams must be supervised by an approved proctor. A proctor is someone who takes the place of the teacher and administers the final exam.
- Students must find their own proctors. It is important that they do this early in the course before taking the final exam. Any delays will prevent students from starting the next course on time.
- Proctors may be any responsible adult who is not realted to the student and who is 21 years old or older.
Proctor Registration
- To register as a proctor, the candidate must complete the Proctor Verification Form and fax it to the main office at 208-589-2450.
- The main office will confirm the information and then send the proctor test login information via email.
Forms
Testing Procedure
- Students may not use their own computer and must test at either an Approved Testing Center or at a public location like a library or school.
- The proctor verifies the student's identity.
- Students login to the course and click on the final exam button.
- The proctor types in a password supplied by RMCHS via the proctor's personal email.
- The proctor makes sure the student is following the correct testing procedures.
- The proctor stays with the student while the student takes the final exam.
- The proctor logs the student out at the end of the exam.
Students who are caught cheating on the final exam will receive an F for the course which will appear on their transcript. Repeated cheating may result in expulsion from the Independent Study Program.
