| English 10A will focus on the art of rhetoric and reading, writing, speaking and listening. Students will learn about the history of Greek drama as they study Sophocles’ famed play Antigone. Students will learn about the art of persuasive speaking, as well as how to write an I-Search paper using MLA format. Grammar and vocabulary lessons will be part of each week’s requirements. | ||||

English 12 B continues the focus of English 12 A on World Literature and Lifetime Literacy (language needed as an adult). It also examines the relationship between literacy skills and citizenship in a free society.
Among the things we'll study in English 12 B: An Assortment of Short Stories George Orwell's 1984 Machiavelli's The Prince Thomas Paine's Common Sense The Federalist Papers Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman We will also look at how different perspectives on government have influenced literature as well as how literature has prompted new ideas about freedom and government. |
